Vacation D9: Normandy, France- Overlord Museum, Pointe Du Hoc & Omaha Beach

If you have the chance watch this 90min video on the events/history of Normandy before looking at the photos. It really puts into perspective what you are looking at in the photos. Parts of the video are mildly graphic. My kids 9 & 12 walched it and handled it well but we have been talking about the History of concentration camps and WW2 for awhile and they knew what was going to happen in the video.

Turkey Baguette & Caramel Bengetts

Seriously the most amazing thing ever.... I should not have shared!

an hour and a half through Paris Traffic and pouring rain~ not fun!

But a stop at a gas station and a new find of Cup O' Awesome!
Made the day much better!

Setting up camp

It stopped raining right as we showed up. we were incredibly lucky!
Apparently it had been pouring all morning!

We weren't sure what the weather was going to do so right after we set up camp
we went to the museum for a bit. It rained, so it ended up being a smart choice.

Pointe Du Hoc

Most of the craters you see in the ground are from where the
Large Guns were placed by the Nazi's.
Some of the craters in the area may have been created by the air attack.
However we (The American Military) did not hit any of the intended targets in the air attack.

You really needed to watch where you stepped.
